Clinical Nutrition Consultation
Dietary and nutritional support adapted to your health needs. Evidence-based treatment of medical conditions and physiological situations through nutrition.
What is Clinical Nutrition?
Clinical nutrition is the branch of dietetics focused on preventing, diagnosing and managing nutritional and metabolic changes associated with acute or chronic diseases. It is not about imposing restrictions or prohibitions, but using nutrition as an active therapeutic tool to improve disease prognosis, reduce symptoms and enhance overall wellbeing.
In my in-person home consultations in Navarra and online for all of Spain, I approach each case from an integrative and personalised perspective. I understand that a condition does not present itself the same way in two different people; your lifestyle, schedule, preferences and previous relationship with food are key factors in designing a viable and sustainable clinical nutrition plan.
When can I help you?
Nutritional support is fundamental in a wide variety of medical conditions. The most frequent pathologies and clinical situations I treat include:
- Cardiovascular Health: Dietary guidelines to regulate high cholesterol (hypercholesterolaemia), triglycerides (hypertriglyceridaemia) and arterial hypertension.
- Metabolic Disorders: Nutritional management of type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes, insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome.
- Endocrine Disorders: Support for thyroid conditions such as hypothyroidism (including Hashimoto's thyroiditis) and hyperthyroidism.
- Life Stages & Hormonal Changes: Personalised nutritional guidance during pregnancy (including gestational diabetes), breastfeeding and menopause.
- Oncological Nutrition & Post-surgical Support: Dietary adaptation to optimise nutritional status during chemotherapy/radiotherapy and surgical recovery.
My Working Methodology
To ensure that nutritional treatment is safe, effective and lasting, we follow a structured approach:
- Comprehensive Initial Assessment: We analyse your detailed medical history, review recent blood tests provided by your GP and conduct an in-depth interview about your lifestyle and eating habits.
- Strategy Design & Personalised Meal Plan: I create a nutrition plan that not only addresses the condition, but adapts 100% to your daily routine. No impossible-to-prepare menus or exotic ingredients.
- Delivery & Nutritional Education: I explain clearly and simply the reasons behind the proposed changes. I provide practical tools: adapted recipes, smart shopping lists and food substitution techniques.
- Follow-up & Medical Coordination: We hold monitoring sessions to assess adherence, symptom improvement and review new medical tests if needed, progressively adjusting the plan.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to give up all my favourite foods because of a medical condition?
Absolutely not. The goal of modern clinical nutrition is adaptation and flexibility. We will find healthy alternatives, modify cooking methods and adjust frequencies, but we will never systematically eliminate food groups unless strictly necessary by medical prescription or severe intolerance.
Do I need to have recent blood test results?
It is highly recommended. Blood tests give us valuable internal information about your glucose levels, lipid profile, thyroid hormones and possible vitamin or mineral deficiencies. If you have tests from the last 6 months, we will review them at the first consultation.
Do you work together with my specialist doctor?
Yes. As a registered dietitian, I see my role as part of a multidisciplinary team. Nutritional guidelines complement and enhance the medical treatments prescribed by endocrinologists, cardiologists or GPs, always respecting their pharmacological instructions.
Can I have clinical nutrition consultations online?
Yes. Through secure video calls, we carry out the same process of clinical interview, analysis and plan design. It is a very convenient option for patients from anywhere in the country seeking evidence-based nutritional guidance.
